Teaching Schools

In 2016 we successfully applied to become a Teaching School. Teaching schools are outstanding schools that work with others to provide high-quality training and development to new and experienced school staff. They are part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in raising standards by developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system.

There are six core areas of responsibility for Teaching Schools.  These are:

·       School-led initial teacher training

·       Continuing professional development

·       Supporting other schools

·       Identifying and developing leadership potential

·       Specialist leaders of education

·       Research and development

We are now one of nine lead Teaching Schools of OTSA – Oxfordshire Teaching Schools, and we focus on School-led Initial Teacher Training.  We work closely with the Cherwell OTSA School Centred Initial Teacher Training team, supporting their primary associate teachers.
