The Windmill After School Club runs every day after school during term time and is managed by volunteer parents whose children attend the Club

Due to our popularity, OfSTED agreed to us expanding our Club in September 2011 to allow us to accommodate another 20 children.

We expanded yet again in November 2015 when the new building was completed and we now accommodate up to 90 children per day

Our Club 1 is run in it's own special secure room located near the Year 5/ 6 classrooms. Our Club 2 is run in the room opposite the school library and Club 3 is run in the gym.

The WASC was set up to provide high quality, hassle-free childcare for working Windmill parents. However, although on school premises, the club remains independent of the school.

Our Club employs highly qualified, experienced play workers who are there to join in the fun and to make sure every child is happy and well looked after. Children can choose to create, draw, paint, stick, read or simply play with their friends.

Although we are not a 'homework' club, we encourage children to finish work set if they wish.

Our last OfSTED Inspection report (13/03/2015) rated us 'Good' with 'Outstanding' for our contribution to the well being of the children.

Quote from a section of the report:

Children's behaviour is excellent. Staff consistently reinforce rules and praise children who make good choices. This helps them to have a clear understanding of the club's expectations and boundaries.

Staff provide high quality play opportunities that reflect children's interests. Resources are stimulating and exciting and suit the needs of a large variety of ages. This ensures children play well together and enjoy attending the club.

Safety and safeguarding of children is a priority for the staff. Robust policies and procedures ensure children can play and relax in a safe environment. All staff are rigorously vetted and suitable to work with children.

Staff deploy themselves well throughout the rooms and outdoors. They make considerable effort to ensure all children are engaged in play and feel supported.

Children with additional needs are extremely well cared for. Close communication between children's key person, parents, the school and other professionals ensures individual needs are thoroughly met.

The report formally notes that the reason the club is not yet outstanding is because:

Children are not given enough responsibility to serve themselves and clear their own plates at snack time, in order to develop their self-help skills.
