Dear Parents / Carers,

KS2 author visit

Thank you to everyone who has been patient in waiting for a working link for the visit of John Patrick Green on 13th October. Mostly Books have been in touch to say that the links they first sent will work on mobile devices now. The links are below if you wish to purchase a signed copy of a selection of his books.

Parent/teacher meetings

The week beginning Monday 12th October will be our week for teacher/parent meetings. The majority of these will be online but on Wednesday 14th October all teachers will be available (by appointment) to meet in person. Please see the letter sent out via the app for login details. Bookings do not open to parents until Monday 5th October.

Tombola and Non Uniform Day

The easiest way to donate tombola prizes is non-uniform day on Friday 9 October, when children wear their own clothes in exchange for a prize. Toys, books, puzzles and the like. Second hand is fine if it is in good condition and something you would be happy for your own child to win. Around £5 if you are buying new.

Alternative Pick Up Arrangements For Children

Please ensure the class teacher is aware of who is collecting your child. If the person who is collecting has to change then ideally you need to make the teacher aware at least the day before. In extreme emergency cases, if you cannot pick your child up on the day then you will need to email the school office (office.2527@windmill.oxon.sch.uk) from the email address we have registered at school so we can verify who you are. In emergency cases like this please email before midday so we have time to inform the teacher.

Balls

We are pleased to be introducing year group sets of playground balls for use at lunchtime. By providing equipment for all children to share, we can ensure fairness and reduce the likelihood of problems associated with balls being brought into school from home. From Monday, we kindly ask that children do not bring balls into school from home. We appreciate your support in helping us make playtimes enjoyable and inclusive for everyone.

Flu immunisation – Wednesday 07 October

Please see the letter at the end of the newsletter for full details. Please read the letter before clicking on the consent form link. Bookings will close at least one full day before the vaccination session –

Windmill PTA Autumn Fayre
Saturday 10 October, 1pm to 4pm

The Autumn Fayre is getting close. You can look forward to a bouncy castle, tombola, raffle, fairground games, nails and tattoos and a lot more. Years 1 and 2 dance at 2.15pm and the school choir sing at 3pm. Raffle drawn at 3.30pm.

Free entry and everyone is welcome, so do bring grandparents, neighbours and friends. Money raised this year is earmarked for cooling and shade improvements at school, to help the children through another hot summer.

TOKENS
Tokens cost 50p each. They will be on sale next week in the back playground at drop-off and pick-up: beat the queues at the entrance! We do not want anyone to miss out, so free tokens will be available for any family who might not otherwise be able to come, please contact Mrs Painter.

VOLUNTEERS
We still need lots of volunteers. Sign-up lists are open on Classlist under the Autumn Fayre 2026 event, and your class rep will know about your year group's stalls.

Most sign-up lists are filling up but some are in dire need of more volunteers:

- Friday 9 October, 3.10pm: ticketing the tombola prizes. Children can help with this one.
- Saturday, 11am: food prep and the cake stall. Nobody at all so far.
- Saturday, 4pm: clearing away after the event.
- Saturday, 1pm to 4pm: Buzz Wire.
- Saturday, 1pm to 4pm: tombola.

CAKES
Please donate cakes, homemade or shop bought, they always sell out. Bring them to the back playground from 11am on the Saturday, or drop them at the middle playground on the Friday at pick-up, 3.10pm to 3.30pm. No nuts, please, and add a note if it is vegan, dairy free or gluten free.

BOOKS
If you have good second hand books you no longer need, bring them to the fayre for the book stall. Children's and adults', fiction and non-fiction, all welcome.
