PTA

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The Windmill Parent Teacher Association (PTA) aims to give a voice to parents, organise social events and raise funds that provide new facilities and benefits for the school. Everyone associated with Windmill is automatically a member of the PTA.

Come and join us

Please join us at our next meeting. The meetings are a great opportunity to find out what’s happening in school and raise issues for discussion. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in fundraising and social events, as well as meeting other parents, teachers and governors. We meet in the After School Club room near the beginning of each term (check noticeboards and the weekly green newsletter for details). If you can’t make it to the meetings, you can sign up for email updates and keep up to date with what the PTA is doing through our termly update Windmill News.

What do we do?

The PTA organizes a busy programme of social and fundraising events. We aim to give everyone connected with the school the chance to feel part of the school community.

Regular events include:

  • Autumn Fayre
  • Christmas disco
  • Family quiz
  • Beetle drive
  • Barn dance
  • Summer disco

Popular one-off events have included a football tournament and fun run, and new ideas are always welcome. As well as events across the school, each class organizes a cake sale and raffle during the year.

The money raised goes directly to the teacher and class concerned to spend on materials they choose themselves.

PTA events raise funds for resources and facilities that enrich the life of the school, such as:

  • Books and furnishings for the school library
  • Visitors to the school - including science and drama shows
  • Fitting out the kitchen
  • Music resources.

The PTA is also involved in several school community projects including providing help and volunteer helpers for Green Club gardening group, the “Footsteps” road safety project and cycling proficiency training. We arrange an appeal for local and international charities around Christmas.

The wide range of PTA events, and the benefits they bring to the whole school, are made possible by the enthusiasm and dedication of many parents and friends of the school. We hope you can spare the time to help.
