What is happening in Year 1 and Year 2? 

We have many exciting things coming up in year 1 and 2... read all about them as they happen below!

Term 1 update:

In Year 1, the children have been enjoying exploring our new provision and making the most of the exciting learning opportunities available. They have been discovering more about the world around them through play, exploration and hands-on activities. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity grow as they investigate, ask questions and share their ideas.

As part of our topic, the children have been learning all about beaches. They enjoyed our ‘Beach Day’ experience day, where they explored the different features of a beach and used their knowledge to create their own seaside scenes. The children have also been looking at beaches in the past and present, discovering similarities and differences between seaside visits then and now.

Alongside our topic work, we have been developing our artistic skills by exploring how to create spirals. The children have been experimenting with different lines, patterns and techniques to create their own unique artwork. They have enjoyed expressing their creativity and developing their confidence as young artists.

In Year 2, the children have been on an exciting Island Adventure! Throughout this topic, they have explored the character of Grandpa Jazz and thought carefully about the things that are precious and special to them. The children have shared their own ideas about what makes something valuable, whether it is a favourite toy, a special memory, a family member or a treasured possession.

To bring their learning to life, the children took part in an exciting Island Adventure Day, full of fun activities, challenges and opportunities to work together. They used their problem-solving skills, explored new ideas and enjoyed immersing themselves in the adventure. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, teamwork and imagination throughout the day!
